ThatchMiscanthus is locally produced by farmers, and has been used by thatchers in Denmark for about 20 years.
Growing ThatchMiscanthus is a very environmentally friendly production, which means that it is most suitable for use in areas for ground water protection.
The leaching of nutrients are at the same level as for natural areas, and the use of pesticides is very low, or non existing, if produced as a organic material (In Denmark no pesticides are allowed in organic crop production)
The local production means that, in opposite to imported reed, it is possible to document how the production is done, both in relation to environmental impact, but also in relation to the work environment for the workers.
